Hi guys,

I’ve noticed that wijmo tooltips are sometimes slow (especially in Firefox for example). Would it be possible to set static position for tooltip (without following cursor)? Or any ideas for different optimization? Or maybe general ideas how to optimize wijmo widgets?

I forgot to add: tooltip is on composite chart values (bar chart).

Also, is it possible to disable hint’s border-radius?

Hello Xanadu,

I am unable to reproduce the performance issue in Firefox 16 and WijCompositeChart.

You can set the position of hint field using the offsetY and offsetX options as :

  hint: {
                content: function () {
                    return this.data.lineSeries.label + ‘\n’ +
                        this.x + ‘\n’ + this.y + ”;
                },
                contentStyle: {
                    “font-size”: 10
                },
                offsetY: -10, offsetX: -10
            }

Thanks,
Richa

Richa, offsetX and offsetY sets only offset from bar. I would like tooltip that doesn’t follow cursor.

Hello Xanadu,

The tooltip is shown on hovering over the datapoints. SInce a compositechart has multiple points, then it seems that the tooltip is following cursor as there are multiple series.

As a workaround, you may set the visibility of the default tooltip and show the tooltip on any other event, say button click.

Please refer to the attached sample wherein the tooltip is shown for linechart’s first data point on button click. You can modify this as per your requirement.

Thanks,
Richa

Richa, I noticed that problem doesn’t exists in line chart, because there tooltip is static (only animating when cursor is near previous/next data point). It’s ok. But on bar chart (attached image), one datapoint can be rectangle and inside this rectangle tooltip is following a cursor – could it be possible to set fixed position like in tooltip in linechart?

Richa this is great, but:

1. This is fixed to first data point (bar)
2. I would like to bind this to hover event (like default hint behaviour, but with this fixed positioning as in your example)

Hi Xanadu,
It’s an issue for the hint’s relativeTo to “element” in wijcompositechart. I have fixed this issue in version 2.3.0. when the wijmo is released, you can use the follow code to implement the feture.

$("#wijcompositechart").wijcompositechart({
......
hint: {
    content:function(){
      .....
   },
   relativeTo: "element"
}
})

Now it’s hard to give you a workaround for the feture. Please wait for the wijmo 2.3.0

Hi dail,

Ok, this sounds fine, could you tell me approximate date of release 2.3.0 version?
